Brooke Sumner  is the creator of Confident Scholars.  She has a Bachelor of Science from Shorter College (University) with a Chemistry Major and Math Minor. She has experience tutoring grammar stage math through upper-level Calculus and Statistics.  She attended graduate school in Applied Mathematics at UAB, although she changed course when she gained admission to Pharmacy School at Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy. While working as a pharmacist, Brooke obtained a Master of Health Administration from The George Washington University. She holds Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and Master of Health Administration (MHA). She homeschooled her children from Summer of 2020 to August 2023 and taught at Jill Dixon's Eclectic Academy of Learning in Savannah from 2021-2022.

Brooke resides in Saint Johns, Florida with her family.  Her husband is currently serving as a physician in the United States Navy.

Damon Mitrakos  is local business executive with a lifetime of knowledge in Spanish language and culture.  He lived in Spain and traveled extensively throughout Europe and Latin America.  Damon majored in International Business and minored in Spanish at Stetson University. He received his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Florida.  Damon has over 20 years of first-hand business Spanish experience.  He brokered international deals, traveled throughout Latin America for business, and crafted Spanish-language résumés.  In his current position, he is responsible for business operations for Latin America.

Damon resides in Jacksonville, Florida with his wonderful wife and two very cool kids.

Erin Mitchell  is a K-1 Level Two Special Education teacher in the Metro Washington DC area. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling. She is currently working towards a Master of Education in Special Education.

 

Erin has a passion for literacy and the humanities. Erin has experience and training in the Science of Reading and has a strong passion for Language Arts. Erin is a published writer and has great enthusiasm for teaching children to become skilled writers.

 

 She lives in the Metro DC area with her two children, Preston and Caroline. When she isn’t teaching, Erin loves to read Fiction and explore nature with her children on long hikes.

Madelyn McGurk is a high school senior at The Center for Advanced Studies at Wheeler High School. She earned a 34 on the ACT, a 1500 on the PSAT, and a 1450+ on the SAT—placing her in the 98th+ percentile nationally. Throughout high school, Madelyn has maintained straight A’s in all her classes, including AP Physics, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus, and many other rigorous courses.

With a passion for STEAM, Madelyn is a member of a highly successful robotics team, as well as several other STEAM-related organizations. She holds a certification in software development, has completed C# programming courses at her local college, and is proficient in five different programming languages.

​

Madelyn lives in Marietta, Georgia, with her family. Her brother currently serves as an officer in the United States Army.

She is excited to share her passion for STEAM, help you master key concepts, and support you in reaching your academic goals.
